Located in the Civil Rights District which includes the historic 16th Street Baptist Church and Kelly Ingram Park, the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute features state of the art, multimedia presentations of historical events from post-World War I racial segregation to present-day racial progress. The Oral History Project, one of the museum’s multmedia exhibits, documents Birmingham’s role in the Civil Rights Movement through the voices of movement participants. The museum also serves as a research facility on human rights issues and hosts many educational seminars.
