CRITIC REVIEWS:

Citysearch -
In Short Maybe the aroma has something to do with it, but walking into Busy Bee is like walking into a time warp. Walls of old photographs, warm booths and counter seating make you feel like you’re on a movie set based in a 1960’s diner. Lodged in a tiny strip, the Southern kitchen sports a hodgepodge of patrons: low-rent politicos, cops, students and questing soul food aficionados. Alongside chitlins, giblets, ham hocks and neck bones, their “beelicious” fried chicken (try it smothered in gravy) steals the show. Crispy and pan-fried on the outside, juicy on the inside gives plenty of reason.  [Full Review]

Creative Loafing Atlanta -
Beyond the stark exterior of the Busy Bee Cafe, you’ll find an exceedingly warm room buzzing with a diverse mix of families, college students and dapper gents chatting up the no-nonsense staff. While the Bee serves consistently delicious food, you can’t dismiss its heart. Most of the customers know the staff by name and vice versa. Strangers make fast friends while waiting for a table (there’s often a wait) or sitting side by side at the counter. And we’ve even seen the entire restaurant sing happy birthday to a blushing, middle-aged man. You can’t put a price on this kind of soul. [Full Review]

Metromix Atlanta -
The Busy Bee is an Atlanta staple. Notorious for its southern charm, always crowded dining area and some of the best soul food made to order. College students and professionals alike constantly pack this moderately sized restaurant with the largest soul food options on the Westside. The menu options include basics like baked and fried chicken, meatloaf and fresh fish with delectable side options such as collard and turnip greens, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and fried green tomatoes. Located near the Atlanta University Center, Busy Bee is a source of good home cooking. You can expect to need a nap a few hours after dining on the chicken, mac ‘n’ cheese and other soul food favorites. Don’t expect anything fancy or too expensive. The simple decor matches the menu — good, no-nonsense soul food at reasonable prices. What’s not to like about that? [Full Review]
