Las Vegas City of Lights Jazz/Rhythm & Blues Festival, Las Vegas NV
Jazz musicians from all over the country congregate at Hills Park in Summerlin just outside of Las Vegas during the last week of April every year for the City of Lights Jazz & Rhythm & Blues Festival. Picnicking is allowed and a variety of concessions are also typically on hand. Given the fact that free and reduced tickets are usually offered for children under 18, the festival is a great occasion for family or group get-togethers. Past artists have included George Duke, Chuck Mangione, Poncho Sanchez, Brenda Russell and Paul Taylor.
This year’s lineup includes 11 scheduled artists. Kicking of the weekend on April 20th is the Stone Soul Picnic featuring George Duke, Barkays, and the Dazz Band. Saturday (April 21st) is the Jazz Festival with Johnathan Butler, Richard Elliot, Rick Braun, Peter White, Hiroshima, Nick Colionne, Philippe Saisse, and the Urban Jazz Coalition.
