Set on the campus of one of the Atlanta’s most respected and renowned instiutions of higher learning, the Clark Atlanta University Art Galleries serves as the permanent home of the University’s historical collection of murals, paintings, prints, and sculpture by the country’s leading African-American artists. Acquired primarily between the years of 1942-1970, the gallery’s permanent collection of African, African American and Contemporary American art consists of well over 950 works spanning seven decades. Visitors can view the works of such notable artists as Henry O. Tanner, Jacob Lawrence, Romare Bearden, Elizabeth Catlett, John Biggers, Beauford Delaney, John Marin, Isabel Bishop, Charles Dawson, William H. Johnson, Kapo, Nellie MaeRowe, Sam Gilliam, Radcliffe Bailey and Larry Walker.
