Ebenezer Baptish Church, Atlanta GA

The Ebenezer Baptist Church was the backbone of the 1955-1956 Montgomery bus boycott “the first locally-initiated mass protest against racial discrimination”an event that propelled Martin Luther King, Jr., into the national spotlight . The church became the spiritual center of civil rights activists when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. served as senior pastor in the 1960s. The church has recently expanded to a new sanctuary nearyby, but the original building continues to be a place of worship with services offered every Sunday at 7:45am and 10:45am. An ecumenical service also takes place here every year during King week (January 9-15).
