Harlem Week, New York, NY

First organized in 1974 by the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce as a one day event to lift the spirits of the citizens of Harlem weighed down by the negative images associated with the area, Harlem Week has turned into a month long celebration held every year in August. Now considered New York City’s largest outdoor festival, the event attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, itching to take part in a huge range of activities including jazz concerts, block parties, fashion shows and more.
For more information on the full calendar of events, contat the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce at (212) 862-7200, or visit Harlem Week’s official website at www.harlemdiscover.com.
