Located just outside of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame honors civil rights pioneers from around the world with granite and bronze footprints. The prints are created using shoes that have been contributed by the inductees. Inside the National Historic Site there is a permanent display with biographies and photos of all inductees. Future plans for the donated shoes include an exhibit at a Macy’s in Atlanta as well as a national traveling exhibit.
The 2006 group of inductees include: Reverend James Orange; Lena Horne; Reverend Joseph E. Boone; Desmond Tutu, Archbishop; John E. Jacob; Bernard Parks; Reverend Martin Luther King, Sr; Stevie Wonder; Xernona Clayton and Reverend William Holmes Borders.
