Born on Christmas Day, 1945, in the French-Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, to a Senegalese slave and a French colonialist, Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges rose to the top of French society through his mastery of fencing and his genius for classical music! During the French Revolution, he was Colonel of a legion of Black volunteers, and fought heroically. Often referred to as the “Black Mozart.”
