Born January 15, 1929, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spent the first 12 years of his life in this modest Queen Anne-style home located in the Sweet Auburn neighborhood of Atlanta. Furnished with both original or period reproduction pieces, as well as personal items of the family, the house has been restored to its appearance during King’s boyhood years.

The Birth Home of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., may be visited only with a park ranger led tour. The tours are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Register for the tour at Freedom Hall, located at The King Center, in person upon arrival to the park. The tour is strictly limited to 15 people per tour! They fill up fast on weekends and holidays.
