Martin Luther King Jr.’s grave site is located on the grounds of The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change (The King Center) in front of  Freedom Hall, on a circular brick pad in the middle of the rectangular meditation pool. The inscription on Dr. King’s white-marble tomb reads, “Free at last, Free at Last, Thank God Almighty I’m Free at last.”  His wife, Coretta Scott King was also buried there upon her death in 2006. Nearby, an eternal flame burns. A chapel of all faiths sits at one end of the reflecting pool.  The burial  is part of a 35-acre complex of buildings known as the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site operated by the National Park Service.
