Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, Atlanta GA

Located in the heart of Downtown Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn neighborhood, Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, a tribute to the Atlanta’s most famous native son, encompasses three important landmarks: King’s childhood home, pastorate (the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church) and burial site.
The National Park Service also operates a visitor center, which offers a complete orientation to area attractions that chronicles the American Civil Rights Movement and King’s role in the movement. The center also incorporates a museum, a theater for audio visual and interpretive programs, interactive exhibits, and a bookstore. Fire Station No. 6, a firehouse built in 1894, contains a gift shop and an exhibit on desegregation in the Atlanta Fire Department. A major Atlanta attraction, the park draws some 500,000 visitors each year.
