National Black Arts Festival, Atlanta, GA

This 10-day celebration features fine art, music, film, dance and more from Africa and the greater African Diaspora. Maya Angelou, Cicely Tyson, Harry Belafonte, Spike Lee, Varenette Honeywood, Ashford and Simpson, Faith Ringgold, Tito Puente, the National Ballet de Guinea and jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis. are some of the luminaries who have presented their works in the past.
This year’s roster includes Dreamgirls featuring Jennifer Holiday, Pan African Film Festival featuring Danny Glover, Roberta Flack, Stanley Crouch, Les Nubians, Valerie Boyd, Victoria Rowell, Alfre Woodward, The Dells, Children’s Education Villiage, Fatima Robsinson, Creative Outlet of Brooklyn, Cocktails, Vinx, Abdullah Ibrahim, Julie Dexter, Cocktails, Sekou Sundiata, Russell Gunn, Vinx, Marc Anthony Thompson, Radcliffe Bailey, and Suzan-Lori Parks, among many other highlights.
