The Savannah Music Festival(SMF) is one of the largest and most diverse music festivals in the southeastern United States. The festival’s distinctive line-up showcases indigenous music from the Deep South and a wealth of internationally renowned musicians representing an abundance of musical styles and genres, including Americana, bluegrass, blues, classical, dance party, gospel, guitar, Irish, jazz, organ, piano and world music.

Some highlights of the 2012 Savannah Music Festival
Classical
- The German orchestra l’arte del mondo will make its U.S. performance with guest, violinist Daniel Hope.
- The Takacs Quartet will play Beethoven, Bartok, Schubert and Shostakovich.
- The Daniel Hope & Friends series will return for its eighth season.
- Pianist Wu Han, cellist David Finckel and violinist Philip Setzer will perform the Mendelssohn Trios.
- Guitarist Milos Karadaglic will present a recital.
- The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will perform with guest conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya and will feature a solo by pianist Yefim Bronfman, who will play Brahms’ “Piano Concerto No. 2.”
Jazz, Blues and the American Songbook
- “Fire & Fellowship” will feature jazz trumpeters John Faddis, Terrell Stafford and Sean Jones and jazz drummer Brian Blade and the Fellowship Band.
- Jazz singer and pianist Freddy Cole and the Marcus Roberts Trio will present “Cole in the Afternoon.”
- The Joshua Redman/Brad Mehldau Duo will perform.
- “Piano Showdown” will feature jazz pianists Cedar Walton, Kenny Barron, Aaron Diehl and Kevin Bales.
- “Blow My Blues Away” will be presented by the Lucky Peterson Quintet and the Joe Krown Trio.
American Acoustic Music, Southern Gospel and Bluegrass
- The Preservation Hall Jazz Band with the Del McCoury Band will present “American Legacies.”
- Gospel artists Brian Blade, Daniel Lanois, Buddy Miller, guitarist Greg Leisz and The Zion Baptist Mass Choir will present “The Hallelujah Train.”
- Bela Fleck & The Flecktones will present “The Original Lineup.”
- “Sanctified Steel & Southern Soul” will feature blues and folk singer Ruthie Foster and gospel artists The Campbell Brothers.
- Tony Trischka, Bruce Molsky and the Abigail Washburn Band will present “Blazing Banjos.
